Contactless giving without the hardware
A tap plaque is a small NFC plaque carrying your cause: tap to donate, with no device to power or look after. A supporter holds their phone near it, your branded donation page opens straight away, and they pay with Apple Pay, Google Pay or a card. Nothing is installed on their phone, and nothing needs to be installed on yours.
Because the donation happens on the supporter's own phone, a plaque needs no mains power, no battery to charge and no card reader to look after. That makes it the cheapest way to put giving in front of people in the physical world, and the easiest to put in more than one place:
- Fix them to walls, counters, tables, notice boards, pews and exhibits
- Put a different plaque in each room, site or shop and see each one's total
- Add them to existing signage, collection boxes and display stands
- Order more at any time as you find the spots that work

Plaques or terminals?
Both put contactless giving in front of people who are standing in front of you. They suit different places:
- Tap plaques cost least, need no power and scale to many locations. The supporter pays on their own phone, so they can give any amount and complete Gift Aid there and then. Best for churches, cafés, visitor attractions, shops, foyers and anywhere you want several giving points.
- Contactless terminals take the payment on the device itself, with preset amounts and a card tap. Nothing is asked of the supporter's phone. Best for staffed desks, events, collections and busy entrances where speed matters most.
Many organisations run both: a terminal at the desk, plaques through the rest of the building. Everything lands in one portal, one set of reports and one payout.

How does an NFC donation plaque work? ＋
The plaque contains an NFC tag holding a short link to your donation page. A supporter holds their phone near the plaque, the phone offers the link, and your branded page opens for them to choose an amount and pay with Apple Pay, Google Pay or a card. No app is needed on either side.
Do supporters need to download anything? ＋
No. Tapping opens a normal web page in the phone's browser, so there is nothing to install and nothing to sign up for. A printed QR code on the plaque covers anyone whose phone does not read the tag.
Does a tap plaque need power or wifi? ＋
No. The plaque itself is passive: it holds a link and nothing more. The supporter's own phone connection does the work, which is why plaques can go where a powered terminal cannot.
How is this different from a contactless donation terminal? ＋
With a plaque the donation happens on the supporter's phone, so they can give any amount and complete a Gift Aid declaration in the same flow. With a terminal the donation happens on the device, with preset amounts and a card or wallet tap. Plaques cost less and suit several locations; terminals are faster at a staffed point.
Can we claim Gift Aid on plaque donations? ＋
Yes. The donation runs through your DONATE donation page, which collects the declaration at the point of giving, and we manage the claim to HMRC for you.
Can we tell which plaque a donation came from? ＋
Yes. Every plaque carries its own code, so donations are reported per plaque as well as per campaign. That tells you which locations earn their place.
