Case Study: Battersea Arts Centre
Organisation: Battersea Arts Centre
Goal: Launch an emergency fundraising appeal after a devastating fire destroyed the Grand Hall
The Challenge: A major fire on 13 March 2015 destroyed the Grand Hall and Lower Hall. The charity needed to mobilise supporters quickly and at scale.
The Solution: A web giving campaign launched within hours of the fire, focused exclusively on online donations to communicate the fire's impact and encourage larger gifts. Social media, London Live and Southwest Trains amplified the campaign.
The Results
- £81,273 raised in total
- £10,500 within the first 12 hours
- 83% of donors added Gift Aid
- 62% of traffic via Facebook and Twitter
- 87.5% donation completion rate
- 99% opted in for ongoing contact
"A traditional emergency fundraising campaign using volunteers with donation buckets might have resulted in £5-10,000. At £50,000 in less than 3 days, DONATE has moved us to a completely new level."
- Kane Moore, Head of Development, Battersea Arts Centre
