My Name'5 Doddie Foundation: Stadium Text Giving

How the My Name'5 Doddie Foundation raised £26,900 through text giving at rugby matches, with 82% of donations through the £5 channel and options for recurring monthly gifts.

The My Name'5 Doddie Foundation raises funds to support research into Motor Neurone Disease causes and investigate potential cures. Led by Doddie Weir, a Scotland Rugby international, the foundation leverages public donations to advance its mission while raising awareness of the disease.

The Campaign

A text giving campaign was deployed at three rugby matches, offering both £5 and £10 donation channels with the option to establish recurring monthly gifts. A web channel received 12 donations despite minimal promotion.

The text keyword DODDIE was promoted through perimeter signage during kick-off when Weir and his family appeared on pitch. Stadium announcements encouraged attendees to donate via phone. Additional promotion occurred through media appearances on BBC's One Show and ITV's Lorraine, and through match day programmes.

"Text giving is hugely important for us. We used DONATE due to its flexibility, scalability and low cost and we loved donors having the ability to set-up regular monthly text giving. With over £25,000 given to date, text giving is a proven winner."
