Help for Heroes: Hit for 6 Cricket Day at the Kia Oval
How Help for Heroes raised over £60,000 through DONATE™ at a star-studded T20 cricket day at the Kia Oval, with 96% of funds by value coming through mobile web giving.
On 17th September 2015, the Kia Oval hosted the first international Help for Heroes Twenty20 cricket fundraising event, featuring stars including Andrew Strauss, Darren Gough, Brendon McCullum, Graeme Smith, MS Dhoni, and Brian Lara.
How DONATE™ Powered the Day
Lunchtime giving: Attendees made text or mobile-web donations before lunch. Auction lot payments were processed via DONATE™, with guests donating through mobile phones using unique codes or at a payment desk. A live totaliser tracked amounts raised in real time.
Crowd giving: During the matches, spectators were encouraged to donate via text. The main ground screen displayed giving instructions and running totals, supplemented by PA announcements, perimeter boards, and programme advertising.
