QR codes
Scan, give, done.
Every campaign, raffle, auction and team member on DONATE™ gets its own short code and QR code. Point a phone camera at it and your donation page opens, ready to give.
The shortest route from a poster to a donation
A QR code turns anything you print or display into a giving point. Your supporter points their camera at it, your branded donation page opens on their own phone, and they pay with Apple Pay, Google Pay, a card or PayPal.
There is nothing to order and nothing to wait for. Create a campaign and the QR code is there in your portal, ready to download as an image and drop into whatever you are making:
- Posters, banners, leaflets and collection tins
- Orders of service, programmes and menus
- Screens at events, in receptions and on stage
- Packaging, receipts, name badges and stickers
- Slides, emails and social posts
Key Features
One per cause, not one per platform
Every campaign, raffle, auction lot, voting candidate and team member has its own code, so the QR you print is tied to the exact thing you are raising for.
Download and use anywhere
Grab the QR as an image from your portal and put it on anything, print or screen. No design software and no developer needed.
Opens your page, not an app
Phone cameras read it natively. Supporters land on your branded page with your story, your target and your preset amounts.
Gift Aid in the same flow
The declaration is captured as they give, and we manage the claim to HMRC, adding up to 25% to eligible donations.
Works with everything else
QR donations land in the same portal, reporting and payout as your text, plaque, terminal and online giving.
The link never breaks
The code behind it is a short DONATE link. Rename your campaign or change its page and printed codes keep working.
People really do scan them
At Vauxhall City Farm, QR codes drove 53% of the web donations alongside their contactless units, with those gifts averaging more than double a contactless tap. Printed codes reach the supporters who want to read first, give a larger amount, or add Gift Aid while they are standing there.
QR codes, plaques or terminals?
All three collect from people who are in the room. They differ in what you put in front of them:
- QR codes cost nothing and go on anything you already print or display. Best for posters, programmes, screens and packaging.
- Tap plaques are the physical version: a supporter taps rather than aims, which is quicker at a wall, a counter or a pew.
- Terminals take the payment on the device itself, for staffed desks and busy entrances where nothing should be asked of the donor's phone.
A QR donation is an online donation, so it is priced at our standard web rates rather than the contactless rate.
QR code FAQs
How do we get a QR code for our charity? +
Create a campaign in your DONATE portal and its QR code is generated with it. Download it as an image and use it anywhere. Raffles, auctions, voting candidates and team members each get their own as well.
Do supporters need an app to scan it? +
No. Modern iPhone and Android cameras read QR codes natively. The supporter points the camera, taps the link that appears, and your donation page opens in their browser.
Can we claim Gift Aid on QR donations? +
Yes. A scan opens your normal donation page, which collects the Gift Aid declaration as part of giving, and we manage the claim to HMRC for you.
What does a QR code cost? +
Nothing. There is no setup fee and no charge for the code itself. Donations that come through it are priced at our standard web rates, the same as any other online gift.
Will our printed codes still work if we change the campaign? +
Yes. The QR points at a short DONATE link rather than a page address, so renaming a campaign or editing its page does not break codes that are already in the wild.
Can we tell how much a QR code raised? +
Donations are reported against the campaign, lot or team member whose code was scanned, so give each thing you promote its own code and the split is visible in your reporting.
Get Started
A QR code is the cheapest giving point you will ever add: create your campaign, download the code and put it in front of people.
