Summer Spotlight: Virtual Music Festivals, Borderlands Treasure and a Local School

A summer 2020 edition featuring three fundraising stories - a virtual music festival, a national borderlands nature conservation campaign, and a local school making PPE for healthcare workers.

This Summer Spotlight edition features three inspiring fundraising stories that demonstrate how organisations adapted their activities during 2020 to continue raising vital funds while making a difference to their communities.

Virtual Music Festival

With live music events cancelled across the country, one music festival took their event online and used DONATE™ to raise funds from a virtual audience. The move to online expanded their reach far beyond what a physical event could achieve, attracting supporters from across the country.

Virtual music events proved one of the most successful formats for online fundraising in 2020, combining entertainment value with an easy, in-the-moment giving experience.

Borderlands Treasure: A Conservation Campaign

A national borderlands nature reserve ran a fundraising campaign to ensure the survival of a treasured landscape. Using DONATE™'s text and web giving channels, supporters were able to contribute to the conservation of a site that might otherwise have been lost.

Conservation charities are often overlooked in emergency appeals, making creative digital campaigns all the more vital for maintaining income and public engagement with their work.

A Local School Making a Difference

A local school fundraised to support their community while also contributing directly - making PPE for local healthcare workers during the height of the pandemic. Their campaign demonstrated that fundraising and direct action are not mutually exclusive.

The Spirit of Summer 2020

These three stories capture something important about the fundraising sector's response to an extraordinary year: creativity, community, and a refusal to be stopped by circumstance.

DONATE™ was proud to support these organisations and many others like them throughout the summer. If your organisation has a story to tell, we'd love to hear from you.
