6. Can I rent, lease or buy units?
The Rent unit is available for rental only. Short-term event leases may be available subject to unit availability — contact hello@nationalfundingscheme.org.
For purchase, see tap+DONATE™ Static.
7. What are the minimum and maximum donation amounts?
Minimum £1, maximum £100 per contactless tap. For amounts above £100, donors can insert their card and enter a PIN.
8. How are donation levels set?
You can specify up to five donation levels between £1 and £100 on the donor screen, plus an 'other' option for self-selection. Changes take effect with 48 hours' weekday notice — email hello@nationalfundingscheme.org. A £5 fee applies per change.
9. Does the unit work on Wi-Fi or 3G/4G?
Both. The unit has an integrated SIM for 3G/4G and also connects to local Wi-Fi.
10. Can donations be taken outside data range?
Yes. The Rent unit stores transactions locally and authorises them automatically when it next has a signal. The reporting portal only shows completed transactions, so pending donations appear once they're authorised.
11. Can a receipt be provided to the donor?
Yes — donors can receive a receipt via SMS or email.
12. Can donations be Gift Aided?
Yes. The Rent unit offers Gift Aid via an on-screen QR code that takes the donor to a Gift Aid form. Note that many contactless donors give in a single tap and may not complete an additional form.
13. How are funds transferred to our charity?
Funds are received by National Funding Scheme (a registered charity) and passed across — less the 2.95% charity fee — under our Affiliation Agreement. See the charities and non-charities terms.
14. What do we need to provide?
Nothing. Once you receive the unit, you can start taking donations immediately.
15. What's included with the unit?
- Your contactless Rent unit (PAX A920)
- 24/7 access to your own reporting portal
- Working-hours support
- Immediate connectivity to collect payments
16. What is the returns policy?
The unit can be returned at your cost for a full refund within 30 days. The delivery charge and annual SIM contract cost are non-refundable.
A faulty unit can be returned for a free replacement within 90 days. Use a signed-for postal service; postage costs are borne by the customer.
17. Can donation refunds be offered?
No. Under our Affiliation Agreement, National Funding Scheme does not offer refunds on donations.
18. Can the device be secured to a table?
The Rent unit is handheld and is not designed to be secured to a surface. If you house it in a separate enclosure, you are responsible for ongoing functionality and the standard returns policy no longer applies.
